Stanley Harper is an award winning (county fairs count, right?) photographer based in the Central California city of Visalia.
Stanley's story began in the small Oklahoma town of Boise City. The town's claim to fame is being bombed by our own forces during World War II. The other little known fact about Boise City is that fewer than 1% of the people living in downstate Oklahoma can find it on the map.
Once Stanley had his diploma in hand (graduating class of 33, perhaps 34), he left Oklahoma for a life of adventure across the world. Victim of a cruel practical joke, Stanley made it as far as Hawaii before he returned to the Mainland. He spent a little time on the East Coast, then returned back to the west. Going from the Bay Area to California's Central Valley, he met the woman who decided to put up with his antics. After a few years, they left the Valley and hung up their shingle in the quaint village of Hooker, which is less than an hour's drive from the other infamous Oklahoma town of Beaver.
After being gone from the Valley for over a decade, 2018 saw the return of Stanley and the woman who puts up with his shenanigans. With this return, Stanley brings back a photography business that is getting ready to have a break out year.
Over the past several years, Stanley has become enamored with the art of photography. From his beginnings with motorsports to a portrait business that includes seniors, weddings, and families; Stanley prefers to look at the world with a wide field of view as he broke new ground in being a part of establishing western Cimarron County as a night photography hotspot. Now he has returned to Visalia and looks to bring his own brand of photography to the area, to include Fresno, Bakersfield and all points in between.
Well, that is my story, all polished up and I am sticking to it. Photography to me is about chasing the light. Capturing it, bending it, breaking it and creating it. Whether I am working with a graduating senior to showcase who they are and what their story is, or forming a perfect composition of landscape in the weaning hours of sunlight; the light is the secret sauce to the imagery. My goal is simple with my photography and that is to create an image that will be considered a “wall hanger.”

I also have been writing for the last several years. You can check out a selection of articles that I have written here.
