Thank you for your interest in Black Mesa Images and the photography of Stanley Harper.  On this page, I have collected a list of common questions and answers for you, the prospective photography client.

WHAT ARE YOUR SESSION FEES?

Family session or photography session lasting one hour – $75

Two hour session – $125

The session fee includes a consultation with you, the client to create a photography session that fits your needs, the session itself, an after session reveal if so desired and up to 5 low resolution, watermarked digital images for social media use.

DO I OFFER PRINT PRODUCTS OF ANY KIND?

Yes I do.  Being able to offer just more than digital files to the client is something I pride myself on.   I have partnered with several professional print labs across the country to reproduce the images from your session using only the highest quality materials that will last a lifetime.  This is not a bonus that I offer clients, but a service as the print process can be confusing for many.

DO I OFFER ONLINE GALLERIES FROM THE SESSIONS?

I do offer online galleries to clients for $50.  The galleries have been enabled for e-commerce and they allow the client to order follow up prints, or to share with friends and families.  Each gallery is password protected.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Only the best photography experience you can have.  I take great pride in not only producing the best images I possibly can, but I take great pride in being able to deliver a one of a kind photography experience.  Your experience will include working with me in creating a photography session, then at a date and time agreed upon, we will have the session then approximately two weeks after the session, we will schedule a reveal session.  The reveal session is where we meet in person and I present to you, the final selection of images from your photography session.  It will be at this time we will work together to design a print package that fits your needs and desires.    In short, I will be with you during the entire process from the first inquiry to final print selection.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL BE DELIVERED?

I do not strive to deliver a stated number of images, I strive to deliver the highest quality and best looking images from the session.  For a full session, I average around 30 images delivered to the client.

HOW LONG BEFORE WE CAN SEE OUR IMAGES?

I strive to have the images from the session ready for initial viewing within two weeks from the session.  This could change depending on several different factors such as my shooting schedule.

ARE THE UNEDITED IMAGES AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING/PURCHASE?

Instead of overwhelming the client with a large number of images, which in many cases will be several different series of images that look almost the same; I select each image based on several different factors and I present the client with the best images from the session.  Each image has been edited to my specifications.

WHY IS THERE SUCH A PRICE DISPARITY BETWEEN PHOTOGRAPHERS IN THE SAME AREA?

This one is simple, yet a somewhat complex answer that confuses the client.  In short, just like with any other vocation, the cost of the photographer is usually reliant to the skills, experience and knowledge of the photographer, along with the level of service that they provide the client.

CAN I JUST PURCHASE THE DIGITALS AND HAVE THE IMAGES PRINTED AT MY LOCAL DISCOUNT STORE?

Yes, you can purchase the high resolution images and have them printed where you would like for personal use.  In fact, there are a lot of photographers who offer nothing more than the digitals from the session.   Unfortunately, for most clients, like I previously mentioned, can be easily confused by the print process.  They will try to have a 4″ x 6″ print made from a file that has been sized and cropped to 8″ x 10″ and they quickly find out that there are problems such as body parts getting cutoff during the print process.   They also find out that the print they just had made at the discount store does not look right in regards to the colors of the image.  This is because printing an image is it’s own little world that requires some education and knowledge to have done right.  I have a large amount of my work printed and I work with several different professional print labs across the country to reproduce the digital images as they appear on screen.  The watermarked, low resolution digital images that you receive after your session are not suitable to be printed.

IF I PURCHASE THE DIGITAL IMAGES, WHAT AM I ALLOWED TO DO WITH THEM?

The watermarked, low resolution digital images that you receive after your session are suitable for social media use, and sending to friends and family through e-mail.  These files are not suitable for print purposes.  The digital images that you purchase will have a print release accompanying them.  The print release will allow you to have the files printed at the location of your choosing for personal use.

WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHY SESSIONS DO YOU OFFER?

I offer engagement, senior, children, family, back to school, gender reveal and any other type of portrait session that one may desire.

WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?

I have been a photographer for approximately 5 years now and I have shot a lot of different types of photography.  I am continually striving to better myself as a photographer.  I have been recognized by several photography websites, including being a contributor to one of the largest photography websites, Improve Photography.

DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?

No, I do not have a studio.   All of my portrait sessions are primarily based outside.  Some of those sessions might have portions of it that take place at an inside location, but the bulk of those sessions are done outside.  Because of that, the session is scheduled based on the time of the sun setting that date.  If it’s a mini-session, we will start approximately 30 minutes to an hour before sunset, and full sessions are usually scheduled to start two to two and half hours before sunset.

WHY THOSE HOURS?

Approximately 2 hours after sunrise and 2 hours before sunset is known as “The Golden Hour” to photographers because that is when the natural light is at’s best.   Depending on the needs of the client, we will shoot up until sunset.   Even though I rely on natural light a lot, there will be times that I will pull out a flash, along with some reflectors or soft boxes and use them.  It all depends on the particular shot we are going for.
